A crowded category. A divided audience.
01 | THE CHALLENGE
With the legalization of iGaming in Ontario, the online casino market had become increasingly saturated. More than 65 competing brands were fighting for attention.
But there was another strategic challenge: how do you build one compelling brand proposition for two very different gaming audiences?
Slot players represented the larger audience, typically seeking accessible entertainment and a momentary escape from everyday routines. Poker and table-game players, while a smaller audience, represented a more valuable segment, spending more time playing and looking for a more strategic, skill-oriented experience.
OLG needed a positioning that could connect both audiences without alienating either.
Finding the common ground.
02 | THE STRATEGY
Rather than build separate messages around individual game types, we researched both audiences to uncover the motivations they shared.
Despite their different gaming preferences, we found common ground in three fundamental desires:
The pursuit of a win. The excitement and anticipation of the possibility of winning.
An escape from everyday life. A chance to step away from the responsibilities and routines of the day.
The role of skill. Both audiences believed their choices and abilities played a part in the experience.
The insight: Everyone plays for their own reasons.
This became the foundation for a unifying brand idea: You Play You.

03 | THE EXECUTION
We developed You Play You, a creative platform that celebrated the individuality of players and positioned OLG as an alternative to the category's exaggerated casino culture.
Visually, we moved away from predictable Vegas conventions, using bold neon colours and a distinctive visual identity to create separation in a crowded market.
The creative embraced a more authentic, relaxed tone, celebrating the personal moments of entertainment that online gaming offers rather than telling people what a casino experience should look or feel like.
The result was a brand platform broad enough to bring different gaming audiences together, while allowing individuals to enjoy the experience in their own way.
Breaking through the noise.
